This Spartan was built in 1954; it was the 58th model 237 produced for the 1955 model year. It was originally sold and delivered in November 1954 in California.
This trailer lived its entire life in California Mobile Home Parks until we bought it in 2022 and brought it to Colorado. The history that we've been able to piece together is that it was originally bought and delivered in Southern California and lived its entire life in an L.A. trailer park and at one point a LA County Housing Authority rental unit. The trailer was bought in 2017 and taken to a trailer park in Atwater, CA, and used as a lot filler and display along with a handful of other Spartans and other vintage trailers. That park was sold to investors in 2021, and they wanted the land, not the trailers, and posted them for sale. That's where we came in and rescued this awesome trailer.
Due to the condition of this trailer when we received it, almost all of the original interior had to be scrapped. Some of the original cabinets were restored and are still present.

As it sat in an Atwater, CA Trailer Park, coated in paint, interior damaged beyond repair, a 1955 A/C unit on the roof, and Scalloped awnings.(Aluminum awnings are included with the sale if you want them)
Six Months and 1400 hours the Trailer was debuted at the Palm Springs Modernism Week Vintage Trailer Show where it won the coveted People's Choice Award.
You may recognize this picture as the Cover of the May/June 2023 Issue of Vintage Camper Trailers Magazine.
This unit was recently overhauled with a new speaker grill design, turquoise and silver grill cloth, and a latching door to hide a Blu-ray player, and storage for records or DVDs. Drawer on the left slides out to reveal the Dual Turntable
The Kitchen features the original design and footprint from the original trailer. Custom touches include the angled front drawers, which were a Spartan design from later trailers, an angled sink front which is reminiscent of Vintage Steel cabinets, Vintage drawer pulls, New Retro starburst door knobs, Panolam starburst backsplash and Panolam grey counters.
Having a built-in Dinette was not an option in 1955; we opted to add one for the functionality and the ability to have it as another bed. We retained the original glass display cabinet on the wall above the Dinette. On the cushions, custom commercial-grade fabric was used and button tufted. Another custom touch is the Retro Sputnik light with starburst light bulbs.
The bathroom features the original layout, but custom touches include vintage green marble and black plastic tiles, N.O.S Formica, sink and huggie ring, and Sears Faucet. Dometic gravity toilet, Restoration Hardware T.P. holder, towel Ring, towel bar, and hook on pocket door. Sliding mirror doors reveal the large medicine cabinet, lighting is 3 recessed lights, and a retro spun aluminum with punched holes.
The original Bathtub with vintage green marble and black plastic tiles, there's a polished aluminum ceiling and corner trim, it also features Kohler vintage-looking faucet, shower, and tub filler.
The Bedroom features a custom built-in short Queen bed (60x70) with storage underneath and the original headboard with storage and shelves above the windows, custom built-in nightstands with a drawer, open shelf, and storage compartment with a door.
An original Spartan design feature, the work surface doubles as a door and folds down to make either a vanity or desk, and there is a mirror mounted to the wall. The corner of the bed makes up the seat. The shelves are partly concealed when the work surface is folded up.
Located between the Bathroom and Bedroom, this wall is a great place to display art, and has a retro spun aluminum light with punched holes at the top for a down light.
Another touch, this door was a Spartan design on later trailers, and we liked it so much we copied it. When you slide the door, it reveals another closet and 4 4-drawer dresser.
The Award was a commissioned art piece by the artist Scooter of your trailer...this is included in the sale.
